I'll admit I bought this fully expecting it to be total crap. I have to admit I am pleasantly surprised at it's functionality. It's a very basic soldering iron but it's portability makes it really stand out. I will be using it for guitar and car audio electronics and not having to plug it in or deal with a cable makes it perfect for my applications. It gets up to temperature to melt solder even at the lowest setting and even worked on lead-free solder at the higher temperatures.

I used this once so far to help solder some cables in my car. I like that I didn't have to wipe out my corded unit. I don't know how long it will last on a charge or not, but it did get hot enough to melt solder and works fine. Kind of a toy to me but it works. It's Odd you have to remove the tip to charge it though They could have designed this better. Can't complain due to the low price.

This was actually the second portable iron I ordered. The first was 90 bucks also saying you could use portable power, so figured the price would hold quality. But I needed a 12v output, useless then. This worked with no issues, press the button for a few seconds to turn on and has 3 temp settings up 300-500. Love it and was a deal of a price. Probably going to order more before folks fink out.
